What Fiesta Model To Get?

Looking at getting a manual Fiesta as a fun rally centric second car to maybe modify and build out a bit. If anyone can give any insight on the ideal trim and year to go for (trying to keep budget on the lower side, no more than 12ish ideally but flexible) please let me know! Thanks!

The ST variant is significantly better. While it may be challenging to find one around $12k—mostly consisting of 2014 models or those with high mileage—an ST far surpasses any other trim regarding fun, modding support, and a driver-focused experience. The 6-speed transmission is quite similar to the 5-speed, but when paired with the turbocharged engine, it becomes a beast. These cars are built quite well, and the only issues I’ve encountered have been minor electrical faults. And don’t forget, the Fiesta ST was a rally car champion for a reason.

I’m not sure about the current prices, but in 2020, I bought a 2019 Fiesta ST-Line X with 140 hp and just 4,000 miles for only $14,500. It came with an upgraded sound system, a reverse camera, and heated steering wheel and seats. It’s an absolutely brilliant car; the half-leather interior feels upscale for a Fiesta and makes it really fun to drive. It’s also quicker than it seems, hitting 0-60 in about 8.5 seconds. I get decent fuel economy too, averaging 40 mpg on Tesco Momentum even with a heavy foot.

If speed is your only priority, then sure, go for a dusty 9-year-old ST with 100k miles and a poor interior. But if you’re looking for more than just speed, I’d highly recommend trying to find a 2019-2020 ST-Line X with either the 125 or 140 engine.

I have a manual S and an ST. By far go with the ST, spending little extra is well worth it.

I second this. I have a 2022 ST-Line 125 and I’m very happy with it. Super nice to drive. If one has the money though, maybe the ST would be even cooler but I’m not sure if it doesn’t go lower with comfort. I haven’t yet driven one unfortunately.

Ouch, dusty 9 year old ST, I resemble that remark!
