I’m looking for manual 2014-2017 Ford fiesta manual diesel or petrol.
Since you mentioned a manual diesel, I’ll assume you’re in Europe. The one engine I would keep my distance from is the 3-cylinder EcoBoost.
I’m not sure if you guys got it in Europe, but we did in Canada, and it’s a terrible powertrain.
Anything with a manual transmission is better than the disposable automatic that you can get.
The 1L EcoBoost engines seem reliable if they’re maintained properly. Just be extra cautious about using the correct spec oil and avoiding additives to ensure the wet timing belt doesn’t degrade prematurely.
I’ve driven a company Fiesta and had two private leases (5 years from new), and I never had any issues. Of course, all of these were dealer-maintained.
My wife has a 2014 Fiesta SE (NA) with the 1.4 Atkinson L4 paired with the problematic 6-speed automatic transmission, and it has 125k miles. The engine has been rock-solid; we only changed the water pump and timing belt at 110k. Allegedly, Ford had already made changes to the transmission by 2014, but even then, it was subject to a couple of recalls. We suspect we’ve had no issues with the transmission mainly because of the model year and the recalls. Since the latest recall, the car now shifts later when upshifting and earlier when downshifting—it doesn’t shudder like it used to.
I’ve heard to avoid the 3-cylinder engine; it’s a shame because it sounds like a really interesting powerplant on paper.
