SYNC not working

I own a 2017 Ford Fiesta SE and I made a post before saying how I can’t figure out how to reset SYNC but I found out that I can’t even access the SYNC setting’s because I’m not even able to open “Media” or “Phone” buttons as they are switching back to “Radio”

Welcome to the club! That’s a common issue with all Ford Fiestas. I have a 2016 SE sedan, and it faced the same problem. I replaced it with an Android head unit, which I think is much better. Plus, it has wireless Android Auto!

Here’s how I fixed it: While the engine is off, remove the fuse for the Sync system (check your model diagram for the correct fuse). Turn the key to the “on” position so the stereo tries to power up for about a minute before turning off. Then, reinsert the fuse and turn the power back on.

This will reboot Sync, and it should look like it’s updating before functioning properly again.

First time dealing with it? I have a 2017 too, and Sync is really frustrating. Sometimes you can reset it by restarting the car, but that eventually stopped working for me as well. I almost broke my hand smashing the buttons, so I switched to a Bluetooth adapter and just stopped using the buttons altogether.

I apologize if you’ve already tried this or if others have mentioned it, but have you used voice commands? I usually say “Bluetooth audio on,” and it connects through my phone.

Okay everyone! I bit the bullet and went to the dealership. I found out that all of the problems lead to me needing a new SYNC/APIM replacement and programming. Thanks for all of the help guys!
