2011 fiesta 1.6 5spd looking to take it on a 1200 mile road trip in a few weeks is it okay to run er down the highway at 3200 rpm for 10 hrs straight?
I have a 2011 Fiesta with a 5-speed manual and a 1.6L engine, and it has over 100,000 miles. I’ve taken it on several 4-5 hour trips at 90+ mph, so sitting on the highway at 4,000 RPM is not a problem for me—just crank up the stereo!
She’ll be just fine. Those little 1.6L engines are excellent. My 2019 has 57,000 miles, and I’d say at least 75% of those miles have been on the highway, often sitting well over 3,000 RPM and frequently at 4,000 RPM for hours at a time.
As long as its cooling system is well maintained then yeah.
I have a 2015 SE with an automatic transmission, and I’ve driven it across the country multiple times, including through the Rockies and Appalachians. I’ve never had any issues with overheating or anything else.
Is the cooling system a weak link? How so
I read a lot of complaints of overheating of ford ecosports/fiestas here in PH though I didn’t experience it even once myself. My thinking is you can always get a brandnew engine but would not matter if the cooling system fails. It would still overheat so checking it is a good step.
Agreed. I’ll Do it for sure
