I recently bought my Fiesta ST Mk8 facelift model and I love it. There is just one thing boggling my mind: On a lot of forums I read people average >34 MPG (<7 l/100km) and I really can’t replicate that with mine. I drive though some cities, a lot on the autobahn and also through rural areas so there’s a bit of everything. My average fuel consumption is about 29-30 MPG (8 l/100km). This leads me to wonder how people can achieve such a low average fuel consumption. So my question is: What’s your average fuel consumption and how do people achieve this low of a fuel consumption?
I’m getting around 32-33 mpg at the moment. I just run 99ron and switch between normal and sport mode. Not sure the modes really affect the mpg, though?
That’s not that far off. Although I think the mode effects fuel consumption. At least I can feel a slight difference in power when switching in sport mode, which leads me to think that
Ah okay, I didn’t knew that. Maybe I misinterpreted the numbers and something felt off because of that. I will say that I’m driving fairly fast (also on the autobahn with >90mph a lot of times) which probably contributes to me averaging 8l/100km. I’m just trying to make sure that it’s either normal or because of my above average fast driving style and not something with the car itself.
Anything over about 70mph tanks fuel economy so fast. The resistance goes up a lot and these cars will need to be in boost to go those speeds, which will use way more fuel.
Mk8 here – I get around 42 mpg on average, mostly cruising country roads with some city driving mixed in. I leave it in normal mode and use cruise control, which I think shuts off a cylinder, and I’ve got start-stop enabled. At 60 mph, the gauge shows I’m getting high 40 mpg.
My mk8.5 gets about 40, though because of my work I’m usually never in traffic and my average speed is around 50mph, rarely ever in stop start 30mph traffic
