I had a Zetec S and slapped a big K&N on it, but it ran terribly, so I took it off.
To get any more power out of the engine, you’d have to spend a good amount on cams. So, I gave up on engine mods and went for Brembo grooved and drilled discs with a solid set of pads instead.
I also upgraded to Bilstein shocks, Eibach springs, and Powerflex PU bushes. It handled like a go-kart on back roads, but it was awful for the daily commute, haha.
I almost went for an ST afterward, but I needed something bigger, or I definitely would have.
have some new brembo brakes on it, but was also thinking of replacing the stock brake caliper with my brother’s ST ones, front and back, so I’d have to change a decent bit at the back I imagine.
also not sure how big of a role oil plays with how the engine runs, but if I read the papers that came with mine correct, they put I think 0W-40 or something in it, instead of the recommended 5W-30 (if I’m not mistaken)
I always put in 5w30 purely as that was recommended for it, I have read of people using the 0w40 though.
The back brake conversion is one I looked into but for what you get from it I never bothered as it’s a lot of work.
That said if your brother has an ST and goes away on holiday for a few days you could swap the back axles lol
There is someone on here with a nice blue Zetec S that runs Mondeo ST brakes on it. That or Focus ST 170 brakes might be cheaper to find second hand compared to Fiesta ST calipers but they will work
What aftermarket radio did you get? I just bought one of those Android systems with the 10.1" screen that completely replaces the factory radio, not just a bigger screen. I’m waiting for them to send the correct RCA cables. Can’t wait to install it!
just one from aliexpress, that replaces the screen, but keeps the CD player unit, and connect to it, has a slight fitment issue atm, but for the one I have, you also have to remove a decent bit of plastic behind the radio
Mine too! I’m using a 9-inch Android system, but with a modified RZ FD11 Canbus. I ordered an FD09 Canbox, but it didn’t work, so now I’ve bought an RZ FD10 box with a new harness to test. I hope it works this time. For the rear cam, I got an AHD 720p camera with a trunk switch. The image quality is really good and looks almost like the original.
