Mk7 2015 1.0 ecoboost titanium or mk8 2017 1.1 85hp?

Hello guys as the title says , i want to choose between mk7 1.0 ecoboost 100hp titanium 2015 and mk8 1.1 85hp 2017. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of both cars or if there is a clear winner?

Just avoid it if it has a wet belt.

Ecoboost are known as ecoboom cause there wet belt engines are so bad im not kidding ive got a 1.0 Ecoboost black edition I absolutely love it but hate it to as the engine went less than 70k head gasket I had only done 3k in 2yrs looked after it im gutted just google ecoboom engines

Theres been something like 750.000 recalls in America with cars going on fire im in the UK and there not so willing to take responsibility for them

After doing some research, I found that the issue often comes from people not properly maintaining their cars, especially neglecting to add oil when needed.

It’s a bit of both. The design is flawed, but good maintenance can reduce the risk. If you want to be extra cautious, change the oil a little earlier (using the right synthetic oil) and replace the timing belt sooner than recommended. The timing belt replacement can be pretty costly though.

Since you’re buying a car from around 2015, you can use this to your advantage. Ask them to replace the belt before selling it to you, or request a discount because it needs to be changed.

Nope, sorry, it’s not that simple. Rubber and oil don’t mix— a wet belt made of rubber submerged in oil will break down over time unless you replace it sooner than Ford recommends. Feel free to invest in an Ecoboom, but good luck with that!

Ok i see thanks for the help , i will investigate. Does mk8 non ecoboost has a wet belt?
