Does anyone have part numbers for the Koni Sport or Koni Special active front shocks?
I can only find them for the mk7 pre-facelift, but not the facelift, all the catalogs only list the rar ones, but apparently many people run Koni in the front and rear, so they gotta exist…
Front Left: 279 8741 1565L
Front Right: 279 8741 1565R
Rear: 279 8040 1419
Note that the front struts for the ST are not listed because they don’t have the second “ear” lobe for the NVH damper. Therefore, the part number corresponds to the regular Fiesta S/SE/Titanium. You can still use them on the ST, but the damper can’t be reattached to the strut. They work just as well and pair nicely with lowering springs like Whiteline or Swift Spec R springs.
Ah, I see! Yes, the U.S. model does have some differences, especially with production running longer compared to the European version, and there can definitely be variations in suspension components like shocks. The part numbers might be listed differently in the EU due to those regional differences, but they could still work on the U.S. model if you’re not too concerned about the damper attachment on the ST.
As for your second question, I don’t personally run those shocks, but I can understand your concern. Koni is known for being more adjustable, so setting them to a lower stiffness might help alleviate that issue you’ve had with Bilstein and KW on rough roads. The problem with those brands is that their damping tends to be a bit more aggressive, which makes them great on smooth roads but less adaptable on uneven surfaces. The Koni shocks, especially if you dial them down to a softer setting, should provide a more comfortable ride on rougher roads without sacrificing too much performance. You should get better surface adaptation, leading to improved traction. Just be sure to test out the settings, as it can vary based on driving style and road conditions!
I use the Bilstein B8s paired with Swift Spec R springs, and they feel fantastic on the roads near my home while performing excellently on the track. I previously had coilovers, which were great for track performance but terrible for street driving.
The OE strut/shocks have too much compression valving, resulting in a rough, uncomfortable ride.
Hey there. I have a set of Swifts/B6s on their way to me from whoosh and I hope I made the right choice for shock. I’d seen both B6s and B8s being used by many members with good reviews… i understand the B8s are slightly shorter in length which is why I went with B6s. If I made a dire mistake let me know lol
