Just got a 2014 Ford Fiesta Titanium

Hello, I just got my car today, and I was wondering before I flip through the owner’s manual if there is any protips one might be able to give me about this car? I know what the manual says v user experience tends to vary at times!

Also, its refusing to synch to my phone. Any protips there?

So, for both my 13 and 14 models, the battery died at 65,000 miles.

Whenever I purchase a car, I always take three steps for mechanical insurance:

I replace the serpentine belt, change the oil, and check the ground strap.

If the mileage exceeds 90,000, I also replace the spark plugs.

To repair the radio, disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Additionally, it may be time to replace the timing belt soon if it hasn’t been changed already.

If you hear a ticking sound when starting the car, it’s likely due to the blend gate actuator in the AC system. While it doesn’t cause any damage, it can be quite bothersome.

I have a 2009 Fiesta, what interests you?

If the car is an automatic, treat it like a manual to protect the transmission (you’re in good shape if it’s a manual).

Regarding the phone issue, I assume it’s Sync 2? You can simply disconnect the battery terminal to reset that system.

There used to be conversion kits from Sync 2 to Sync 3, but I believe even Infotainment has stopped making them since the Sync 2 cables are no longer available.

I have a 2013 Titanium X with a 1.6 engine. The Sync system sometimes forgets all its settings, so I take out the relevant fuse and put it back in. After that, I have to pair everything again, and it usually works for a few months. I’ve noticed that the auto-lights activate even on bright sunny days, so I keep them switched off. The car is on its second battery at 40,000 miles, and I’m not sure why the previous owner replaced it.

Inspect the tires and battery, as they may be old and require replacement soon.

Has the belt been replaced recently? It’s a good idea to check on that, as a broken belt can damage the engine.

Regarding Sync, whenever I’ve encountered problems, I’ve removed the Sync fuse, reinserted it, and then it allows me to connect again.
