Is the Ford Fiesta good?

Hi, is the Ford Fiesta 2019 a good car? I’d like some reviews from people who own it for at least a couple of years if possible.

I’d appreciate some detailed reviews, including things to be on the lookout for and maybe the most common things that tend to break down.

No, the 3-cylinder has head gasket problems, and the dual-clutch transmission is unreliable.

If it’s a manual transmission, I’d consider it if that’s what you’re looking for. However, if it’s an automatic (DCT), it’s a definite no. While they tend to perform a bit better in the Fiesta than in the Focus, they are completely unreliable and problematic junk. They never managed to resolve the issues throughout their production or with later TSBs. Definitely stay away from those transmissions!

The 12V battery could be a problem; it often discharges easily. My sister has experienced that issue.

As others have mentioned, consider getting a manual transmission Ford Fiesta, either the 1.6 or the 1.0. The 1.0 may be more expensive to repair if needed, but I’m at 120,000 miles on mine and have had very few issues. I had a sensor go out, and the vacuum pump valve tends to fail around 100,000 miles, but it’s just a $10 rubber piece and takes about 10 minutes to fix.

I drive a 2016 hatchback every day, commuting 130 km to work and back. I’ve owned it for two years, and I’m just now needing to do some front suspension work, which is normal wear and tear. I get 5.7 L/km in the summer and 6.4 L/km in the winter. I’m very satisfied with it. As long as you keep up with regular maintenance, you should be fine.

If you’re looking to drive a stick, consider finding a Fiesta ST. They are a bit more expensive, but with a manual transmission, you won’t have to deal with those frustrating DCT issues. Plus, the engines are more reliable and have lower maintenance costs compared to the 1.0 3-cylinder.

The same goes for the Focus; the DCTs (all automatic models) are just terrible.

I bought a new 2019 base model with a 5-speed because they were offering a significant discount. I haven’t encountered any issues so far and average about 41 mpg on the highway. What I really appreciate is its simplicity; when you pop the hood, everything is easy to see—no hidden dipsticks or batteries tucked under the dashboard.
