I mean, I understand sales are important factors but I mean come on. I feel like this was a big middle finger to the affordable sports car audience. I thought it was a really cool little car. At least the Fiesta ST made sense! It was light, got excellent mpg, it made good enough torque and power to be quick and fun, and it was cheap!
Who the fuck is gonna be driving a 4,000lb family SUV well over 100mph, on backroads, on the track, autocross, etc? Maybe it just doesn’t make sense from my perspective but I just think trying to make this class of vehicle sporty and giving it more power than it needs is a bit dumb.
I guess the audience who likes driving their family and kids around at high speeds is actually larger than the audience of enthusiasts who enjoy rowing their own gears in a quick, affordable, lightweight turbo car. Smh
You can complain as much as you want, but the Fiesta was discontinued because it wasn’t selling well. Everyone here loves to hype up the ST models, but very few actually buy them.
If you liked the Fiesta so much, why didn’t you buy one and give Ford a reason to keep it in production?
Thanks! The SS fans are even worse. They always say, “We NEVER get cool RWD V8 manual sedans like they do in Australia; we would buy them if we could!” GM offers the SS, and it flops.
Then, when you point this out, they blame GM’s marketing or come up with a ton of other excuses. They’ll say things like, “Well, I would have bought it outright, but my grandma’s cousin’s youngest daughter’s boyfriend needed a cash loan for the exact amount, and family comes first.”
I did! It’s my first brand-new car, and I’ve wanted one since they were first released. I feel lucky to have gotten one before they were discontinued. It’s definitely a shame that the FiST is coming to an end in the U.S., but it makes perfect sense. You can’t really blame Ford for wanting to make a profit; that’s their primary goal.
