Hey guys 23M here just moved to Maryland USA and looking for my first car. I found a 2013 Hatchback Fiesta SE Mileage: 172,000 Clean title
Owner is a mechanic who says he will help me pass the car inspection if it doesn’t. He also said he’d give me a 3 month guarantee on the car. Says it drives well and needs no fixes.
Last offer he accepted is $2,500. How much is the resell value.
Asking if y’all think this is a good deal and any issues I might encounter with this car in the near to far future. Thank you!
The fact that he claims he can help you pass the car inspection even if it doesn’t meet the requirements suggests something isn’t right with the vehicle. If you have a trusted mechanic, have them inspect the car thoroughly.
According to Ford, the lifespan of the car is 150k miles, and everyone is likely to encounter transmission issues eventually. I currently have one that runs great, and I’ve seen some on this channel with 250k and 300k miles. That said, every driver is different, and it’s hit or miss because there are some things you can’t check. It’s definitely undervalued, but I would still try to negotiate the price down a few hundred. Good luck!
Don’t ever buy one of those—don’t even consider it. I have the same car, and the transmission failed, so now I’m stuck with a vehicle I can’t drive while still making payments for seven more months. I have to go this Friday to try to trade it in and see if I can get anything from another dealership, hopefully for a car that’s actually drivable. I spent $2200 on this car, and now I’m dealing with a ridiculous situation with the struts and rear shocks. These cars are built to fail; they’re ticking time bombs with terrible transmissions. Save yourself the hassle and look for something other than a Ford—run away as fast as you can, or you’ll end up pouring a ton of money into repairs constantly.
