Ford Fiesta st line 2018 - Oil pump failure?

Hey everyone, looking for someone opinions on this. So over the past few days, starting Monday when heading to work I had the light in my dash come up and warning saying oil pressure low, this seemed to happen intermittently and was flashing on and off to start with when hitting bumps etc. After work I checked oil levels, topped this up and then went to drive home, as I started to drive the light came on again and has since stayed on and noticed a cranking noise of some sort coming form the engine when idle, and when accelerating this gets louder. However on the drive home this was an issue for the first 10 mins or so and after driving for some time the noise faded. My car sat until today and I got back in today to see if this issue was still going on and it was, however I have now noticed that the check engine light is also on. Any advice or insight into what this could be would be greatly appreciated.

Cars booked in to get check tomorrow at the garage but wanted to get an idea of what to expect ahead of this.

Which engine are you referring to? It could be an oil pressure sensor or the oil pump (if I remember correctly, the oil pump might be belt-driven, and the Ecoboost engines from that time period have a bad reputation in the USA).

If it’s the oil pump, you may have caused damage due to low oil pressure, so be prepared for a hefty repair bill.

How low was the oil level when you topped it up?

The engine is a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. I was thinking oil pressure sensor at the time due to the inconsistency with the light on dash. More worried now the fact the engine light is also on.

Before I topped this up the dip stick was up to the first divot

Yeah, fuck the engineer that decided that a belt drenched in oil is sufficient. I don’t drive a Ford, but fuckem still.

Oil pump failure was standard factory equipment on these.
