I just have a question why don’t people suggest Cobb as much as the WRX community. I’ve joined recently and the two companies that always come up is Whoosh and Mountune.
Second im trying find a find an exhaust or what ever else is needed, im trying to find an exhaust that sounds like a rally car that will give me good performance.
Cobb doesn’t really support the Fiesta ST in any meaningful way. The Fiesta ST is a European hot hatch that gets much more support from the European car industry.
You’re comparing a Japanese AWD platform to a European FWD platform here.
Mountune was fully committed to the Fiesta ST early on, while Whoosh is more of a supplier that sources parts from other manufacturers and brands them (though I believe their hybrid turbo is made in-house).
As for exhausts, none will give you significant performance gains on the Fiesta ST—it’s not designed for that. If you have a bigger turbo and add a high-flow downpipe, a 3-inch exhaust might give you a few extra horsepower at the very top end, but that’s about it.
Most people recommend the Thermal, FSWerks, or CP-E exhausts, in that order. Whatever you do, do NOT get the MBRP.
I can’t speak for the entire community, but from what I’ve seen, the general consensus is that the Cobb OTS tune for the Fiesta ST is pretty average at best.
Cobb parts aren’t necessarily the top choice, and I’ve noticed people tend to move away from Cobb when they’re tuning for more power.
I have a Cobb cat-back on my car. It sounds good—deep without much rasp—and it’s not too loud, but it definitely has some drone.
Is it a quality problem with MBRP? This is my second car with their exhaust, and while some tastes don’t like the volume/drone it’s what gives me a smile while driving. Also, $300 cheaper was a selling point as well.
