The Fiesta isn’t particularly renowned for its braking performance, and after driving my new Fiesta for a few kilometers, I can understand why. For those who have upgraded their brakes, what components (pads, pump, discs, calipers) would you recommend to improve braking power and stability?
I’ve driven cars with far worse brakes!
Yes, sure, but after a few hard brakes, I can feel them not working properly anymore. Maybe it’s an issue with MY car… not sure.
My setup is:
- Pumaspeed 330mm BBK
- Focus ST170 rear discs and carriers
- EPC RPX pads all around
- Replaced the front fog lights with air ducts
- Motul RBF660 fluid
- Braided lines all around
If you’re just driving on the road, it might be overkill. But I’d definitely recommend this setup if you’re tracking the car. I don’t experience any brake fade, even on longer sessions. The only downside is that the EBC RPX pads wear through the discs pretty quickly.
If you’re not tracking it, make sure to use some good fluid in the lines, stick with OEM discs, and consider EBC Greenstuff or Yellowstuff pads.
EBC pads/rotors and Motul fluid. I’ve spent entire weekends hooning the Tail of the Dragon with this setup… zero complaints or concerns.
This has to be a joke, right? The braking performance is great (at least on EU spec cars). Have you changed your brake fluid?
