This is my 2013 ST. Had it for 5 years and love it. It’s done 110k mikes and needs its timing belt doing (pretty soon) It’s been consistently serviced with the correct oil but in the past year I’ve been noticing a slight burning smell when I proper out my foot down. I recently went underneath it to replace my suspension arms and some ball joints and saw some oil coming from the turbo… could the smell be due to my turbo seals leaking? Also got a question about reliability… if serviced consistently, what kind of lifespan can I expect from the engine?? I’ve seen some on here up to 200k and one at 270k! I’ve got a bit of a predicament, do I sell up and get rid or spend a few grand in the hopes it lasts another 5 years?
The factory-recommended timing belt service is at 150k, so that’s still a few years off. There was a post earlier today about someone nearing 300k miles. It’s a modern car with a well-built, well-engineered engine.
I’m in the UK, I’ve heard the US have a different variant of engine to the rest of us. Seems we’ve opted for the less reliable wet belt lol
Double-check the timing belt interval, because in Australia, it’s typically 10 years or 240K km. If you were here, that would mean you’re overdue. Since you have a two-door, it sounds like you’ve got a Euro ST, so we’ve got the same car.
Yes, I’m in the UK. It’s 100k/10 years so well overdue at this point. Hence why I’m torn between selling up or piling money into it…
An Australian Ford Parts Manager told me it’s 100k or 10 years for the Aus-spec Fiesta ST. I’m in the same boat—do I upgrade to RWD or stick with the ST and go for a stage 2 tune? Good luck with your decision!
Upgrade radiator my friend…
