2018 Ford Fiesta - Clutch sound?

Hello guys,

Got a 2018 Fiesta, which has just started making a very quiet but noticeable noise when slowing - usually in the 2000-2500 RPM range, I can only describe it as a slight whirring with a bit of stuttering. If I press the clutch in it will stop.

No noticeable issues with the clutch and everything else drives as smoothly as expected.

Any ideas what it might be and how bad I’m about to be bent over by a garage if I take it in?

I have the same noise issue with my manual 2014 Fiesta. When it’s idling or in neutral without pressing the clutch, I hear a faint whizzing sound. The noise goes away when I press the clutch. The car runs perfectly though—smooth and fun to drive.

If the noise stops when you press the clutch, there’s a good chance it’s the release bearing in the clutch assembly, which also acts as the slave cylinder. The only way to replace it is by removing the gearbox, and while you’re at it, it might be a good idea to replace the clutch as well.

Yeah I saw a few things saying clutch release bearing - any idea of what the damage is to replace it?

It’s been a good few years since I have had to pay for one maybe £500-1000. Go to someone that specialises in clutches they should be the cheapest

Joy! Thanks so much my friend🙃
