2013 Ford Fiesta car

Hello everyone, so I found a 2013 fiesta se, 25k miles for a little shy of ten grand, but unfortunately it’s an auto. I’ve read up a little bit, and I’m having a really hard time deciding if it’s worth it, as ive only read bad things about the automatic transmission. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The automatic transmission tends to have issues, even with our 2020 Connect.

I have a 2013, and I’d recommend passing on it; it’s just not worth it. There isn’t a reliable fix, even with the warranty extensions. For that price range, you should look for a used Toyota. They offer solid reliability across their lineup. Check out Car Wizard on YouTube for a “buy this, not that” video.

Do not get it! I bought a 2012 Fiesta for $5k with 40k miles, and the transmission is terrible—it’s already been replaced four times. I feel like I was hoodwinked, lol!

I have a '19 Fiesta, and the automatic has been solid for 50k miles, but most of that has been on the highway.

My personal theory is that since these DCTs use a dry clutch, they’re more prone to heat issues. They tend to heat up mainly in stop-and-go traffic, so the more you encounter that, the more likely you are to experience problems.

I’d say if you plan to use it as a highway commuter or for road trips, you’ll be fine. But if you’re stuck in stop-and-go traffic for hours? Nah.

I have a 1.6 2013 Titanium X automatic with 38,000 miles. It drives very smoothly and is nice to handle, although it does judder a bit in heavy traffic. I wasn’t aware of the gearbox’s reputation when I got the car, but it has always performed well on long drives. A conversation with my Ford dealer estimated a replacement cost of around £2000. I’m not planning to change it, but if it fails, I’ll have no choice.

It’s probably my last car anyway; one of us will go first.

I bought a 2013 auto in February of this year and had to change the transmission last month.
