2012 Ford Fiesta Wont Start

When I try to start the car, I can insert the key into the II position, when I insert it into the III (start position) it does not even attempt to turn over. There are no clicks either. This was an intermittent problem but now it’s getting worse.

I have replaced the battery and have also checked the grounds and it seems to all be good. Any ideas as to what it could be? I checked fuses and it was ok. I also swapped relays and it hasn’t fixed it either.

It could be a connection issue with the starter.

Had mine off to lock the flywheel to do my headgasket and it definitely gets a bit corroded down there. Its tough to see because its below intake manifold on the throttle body side if I’m not mistaken.

Another update: it seems that if I leave the key in the II position for a while, the error actually goes away. I noticed that there’s a wrench icon on the dash when this issue occurs.

I will take a look at that as well! I just hope it isn’t the TCM
