2017 Ford Fiesta SE. I hit a curb a year ago and she’s never been the same. No shop has been able to find a problem, but it clunks when turning mainly, but kinda all the time, and the steering wheel pulls to the left quite extremely but the shops say it doesn’t need an alignment. Today, I noticed that I can feel the wheel turning in my left foot, and I’ve never felt that before. Any ideas as to what the problem is? Do I need to stop driving the car? I’m honestly scared of something falling apart while driving. Thanks in advance.
Take it to another mechanic, or better yet, a specialist wheel/suspension shop. Something is clearly wrong, and if your current mechanic can’t figure it out, it’s time to find one who can. This could be a serious road safety issue, so it’s important to get it checked out properly.
Something’s definitely wrong with your suspension. It could be a wheel bearing, control arm, rod, axle, bushing, or any number of things. Take it to a shop that specializes in suspension—they’ll know exactly what to look for.
If you can jack the car up yourself (make sure to use the proper jack and jack stands), put on some gloves, and try wiggling or moving any of the rods. If they move with little to no resistance, it likely means the bushings on those parts have failed and need to be replaced ASAP.
Id say from that description that a tie rod isnt right.
Have a shop check the rack and pinion. It’s possible that one of the mounts has broken, which could be causing the issue. A professional will be able to diagnose it properly.
You’re welcome! I’m glad the suggestions helped validate your concerns. It can be frustrating when shops dismiss your worries, but it sounds like you’re on the right track now. A suspension specialist should be able to get to the bottom of it. Good luck, and I hope you get it sorted soon! Feel free to reach out if you need any more advice along the way.
