i’ve just bought a fiesta and it says on google this uses a timing chain instead of the dreaded wetbelt but i wasn’t sure does anyone know what it uses??
You’re right—2018 models should indeed have the wet belt for the main drive. If you’re unsure, you can easily check by looking at the front of the engine. If you see a silver heat shield covering the exhaust manifold and turbocharger, it’s likely the wet belt. In contrast, from 2020 onward, Ford turned the engine around 180°, and those models have a plastic inlet manifold, indicating a timing chain instead of a wet belt.
If the car has been regularly serviced with the correct oil and maintained well over the past six years, the engine should still be in good shape. Wet belts can last quite a while if properly cared for, so it shouldn’t be too concerning at this point!
Could be wrong, but isn’t the st the 1.6 and not the 1.0
ST-Line not ST.
Thats just a dress up kit for the normal Fiestas with the standard engines that ranges from 70 to 155bhp.
And what engine generation do you have, OP?
