Ford Fiesta Gen1 Transmission

Good day everyone! Just want to ask about the well known transmission issue with the 1st gen ford fiesta. Friend of mine bought one and was informed that the issue was already fixed previously. Question is, is there a chance for the issue to reoccur?

Issue btw is for the transmission control module. Thanks!

Ford Fiestas are reportedly plagued with issues, and I’m pretty sure that DCT problem will resurface with age.

There’s a reason I’m avoiding Fords from this time period. Even the EcoSport and the Focus are affected.

There’s no recall for Ford PH, but there is a 10-year warranty for the transmission module. However, I can tell you that maintaining an MK7 Fiesta can be quite costly if a module goes wrong. My advice is to have a mechanic who specializes in the MK7 check it at least once a year, replace the battery before it’s due, and consider purchasing refurbished parts instead.

If you want more information, feel free to send me a PM. My mom daily drives an EcoSport, and the transmission has failed (and been “repaired”) twice already. So yes, it can definitely happen again.
