I was wondering if I can get any opinion on this matter, so I have 2013 Ford fiesta 1 litre eco boost and I’ve had it for nearly 3 years now. The oil pressure warning light came on and I went to a garage and they told me I was the wet belt that needed replacing. I got a quote for £1500 for the wet belt to be replaced and the mechanic mentioned that the turbo charger might have gone also and that would be another £1,000. The cars worth is between 2,000-2,500, is it worth getting it repaired or should I just sell it??
Ford will charge £900 to replace the belt.
They probably over quoted as a lot of garages don’t touch wet belt engines, for good reason as well.
I had mine done at an ecoboost specialist recently for £900. £1500 is a rip off. I’d get it towed to an ecoboost specialist. Don’t drive or start the car at all if the belt has failed, you’ll potentially do catastrophic damage.
If you are based anywhere near the Northwest of the UK, I’d highly recommend NorthWest Engines in Manchester.
