Ford Fiesta 1.1 2019 - squeaking noise at idle

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently noticed a squeaking sound coming from the center console, specifically beneath the gearbox lever. It might be because this area is less insulated from the engine compartment.

From outside the car, I can’t pinpoint the source of the noise. It’s definitely not coming directly from the engine but seems to originate from the area under the hood, near the cabin.

For context, the cambelt and V-belt were recently replaced, but the noise was present both before and after this work.

The squeaking sound appears when the car idles at around 850 rpm. It disappears when the gas is pressed (or at least when the RPM is higher than idle). Pressing the clutch doesn’t seem to affect it.

Any ideas about what could be causing this?

Thanks!

I know you mentioned it’s not coming from the engine, but it might be. It could be the fan motor going out. Mine did the same thing, and eventually, the fan just stopped working. Replacing it was a real pain.

Like the one mounted on the radiator? I don’t think it was spinning at the time of the video, since outside is really cold and the car was just started up. Or maybe it does the noise when it’s turned off?

My bad. I meant the blower fan motor for the dash. There’s also aculators inside the dash that get messed up too but they make a clunking sound instead of the vibrating noise yours is doing.

Oh there’s three of them, one in the middle buried behind the radio system, the two are on driver and passenger sides. You have to dismantle the dashboard to get to them. It is difficult to reach all three of them.
