I’m in the uk and am age 16 and am thinking of hopefully getting a ford fiesta ST in a year I was originally thinking of focus when I found the fiesta and found the difference versions of them and am still wondering which one is best for a 17 year old. Please can I have some help?
There’s almost no chance you’ll get insured on an ST as your first car, bro. When I was 17, I was quoted £23k a year for a 2015 ST-2. Your best bet is to get insured on a cheaper car with someone like Admiral, then trade up in a few months. I’m still getting quotes over £10k on MoneySuperMarket (at 19), but with Admiral, it’s only £300 a month without a black box.
uk is not for the beginners, i pay $200/mo and it’s my first car as well, got my american driver’s license 5 months ago
Jeez, UK sounds like a rip off when it comes to insurance. I’m sure if i was in this kids position, insurance would be 300 a month max. With good coverage.
Man, I only pay £120 a month. 26 years of driving experience though!
Most likely not, at least not at a reasonable price. The Fiesta ST is known for being extremely expensive to insure, especially in the UK. This is because it’s popular among young drivers, who statistically are more likely to cause accidents, and because it’s one of the most commonly stolen vehicles in the UK since its release. It may be cheaper if the insurance is in your parent’s name and you’re listed as the primary user, but the rates will still be very high for this model. As a new driver, you’d probably be better off with something more affordable to insure, like a Mk3 Mondeo or a similar model.
